Russells Ltd, 18 Church St, Liverpool, marine chronometer with 8-day winding indicator, mounted within original gimbaled brass tub and three-tier brass bound mahogany case with signed front plaque, silvered dial of approxinately 5 inch diameter marked "Russells Ltd, Makers to the Admiralty, 18 Church St., Liverpool, No. 7048" with additional marking in red within seconds-register of "Makers to the Japanese Government, Auxiliary Compensation," free-sprung bi-metallic compensation balance with blued steel helical hairspring, fusee-drive with spring detent escapement, spotted pattern gilt damascene, s#7048 with matching serial number to gimbaled box.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, good winding indicator function, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some light spotting to plates, excellent-plus dial with very light surface spotting; nearly mint gold hands; excellent tub and gimbals with loss of original gold-plated finish; box in excellent-plus condition overall with several light dings and scuffs to finish.
